Artifact 5

This Daiklave was originally forged during the first age by a Dawn caste Solar Exalted who sought to find a way to manipulate luck to be on his side during a battle. The concept which sounded simple was a lot more difficult to execute in practice, leading to a lengthy construction and several failed attempts that resulted in Unlucky Daiklaves. While the Dawn Caste solar was aware of which Daiklaves were failures and which one finally resulted in the blade that he wanted. Unfortunately, in the second age, there is no real way to tell the difference between the two besides trial and error. Only one Lucky Daiklave exists which was finally created after four failed attempts resulting in Unlucky Daiklaves. Each one of these Daiklaves resembles a large straight sword made out of orichalcum with a four pointed star as a hilt that leads into the blade of the sword forming the fifth point. The Unlucky Daiklaves were often passed around to young and newly exalted Solars during the first age largely as practical jokes, but several Solars saw the limitations of The Unlucky Daiklaves as challenges, and competitions arose to see how successful a Solar Exalted could be with one of these blades. In the second age, seven Dragon-Blooded have perished in unfortunate accidents related to one of The Unlucky Daiklaves which only added to the Immaculate Order's point that the anathema artifacts were evil. Despite these warnings, two Unlucky Daiklaves remain in active use by the Scarlet Dynasty, the other three Daiklaves have not yet been uncovered.

The stats of The Lucky Daiklave are Speed 5, Accuracy +5, Damage +5L, Defense +5, Rate 5, Attune 5. If an attacker rolls exactly 5 successes on her attack roll during step 3 of attack resolution, The Lucky Daiklave automatically converts the attack into a perfect attack which succeeds with 5 successes over any sort of defense value or other penalties during step 5 of attack resolution. Also, when parrying with The Lucky Daiklave, any attack which rolls less than 5 successes before applying DV during step 3 of attack resolution, The Lucky Daiklave will alter the parry during step 6 of attack resolution to be a perfect parry. Furthermore, attacks blocked thusly do not inflict onslaught penalty for future attacks. Perfect attacks which do not require a roll are not automatically parried by the sword.

The stats of The Unlucky Daiklave are Speed 7, Accuracy +7, Damage +7, Defense +7, Rate 23, Attune: 7. Attacking with The Unlucky Daiklave has a number of ill effects. First is that the target number for all attacks are increased to 8. This does not stack with other effects that increase target numbers. Secondly, 10s do not count as two successes. Lastly, every attack made with The Unlucky Blade causes 4 dice of unsoakable lethal damage that cannot be prevented by any method that does not also abort the attack. When parrying with The Unlucky Daiklave, the attack roll has its target number reduced by 1. This does not stack with other effects that reduce the target number. The Unlucky Daiklave is artifact 4.
