History: Majestic “Magnus” Magnakhan was born on the Skullstone Archipelago in the Eventide Prefecture. His father, Majestic Word, was a Realm Navy surgeon that deserted during a confrontation with Lintha pirates after their Dragon-Blooded commanders were defeated. He fell in love with Qui-Khan Song, a Ghost-Blooded textile merchant princess. Magnus was born the 3rd child of his parent's total 5. He was his parent’s favorite. As a boy Magnus took quickly to a variety of endeavors, his hunger for education and experience knew no satisfaction.

As Magnus grew older his faith in the New Order increased and he wanted for nothing. Given the best schooling, women, and material wealth the world became his oyster. It was only natural to constantly stay in trouble for acts that some would call noble and others a nuisance. To keep his son from being arrested Majestic Word took his son away from all the potential mischief that he feared would one day ruin his life, he did so by disguising it as an apprenticeship on board the ship, Righteous Galleon Equestrian, a long-range merchant vessel. Magnus jumped at the chance to be the ship’s Surgeon's Man. High adventure and all manner of amusement came on his journeys. Life was fun for a time, until a new captain was assigned to the Equestrian, Talented Cobra, a man of strong conviction and ambition. Long hours, mental fatigue, and few ports became his moniker. Magnus often alleviated stress where he could with comedic oratories and increased recreational pharmaceuticals. This made Cobra quite aggravated.

A year later, during a routine trade expedition, a group of unruly fae-blooded creatures overran the ship. One named Gurr’uck took a macabre pleasure in torturing Magnus’ shipmates to death. When Word’s turn came up, Magnus volunteered in his place, bound to the mast Magnus was beaten with anything his captors could find. When the blow that would take his life was issued, Magnus looked to the horizon and began to repeat the mantra that would let him live on as servant to the ghosts that would come after him. In the second line of the recitation a voice spoke to him in the most melodious beautiful oratory he had ever heard it said: “Hello, Magnus.” When Magnus opened his eyes he stood nude in a peach orchard of unequalled beauty. The voice said “I am the Unconquered Sun, provider of the light that washes away darkness. You are my emissary. I charge you this day with the duty of shining the light of knowledge on all of Creation. This is my will. I have invigorated your body with the power to carry the burdens that lie in wait to stop you. Life is a precious gift and this day I give you yours. Do not waste it. Go forth and see my will done. Blessed are the Arrows of Heaven.”

While the Sun spoke flashes of a life Magnus never knew, hit him with a 100 times more force than that of Gurr’ucks blows. All of the memories were new yet intimately familiar. Some were good, some bad, but his sense of duty never wavered. The Sun vanished in a blinding flash and as Magnus stood he saw the horror on the faces of all who surrounded him. Friend and foe stood in awe of the golden corona that engulfed the once downtrodden sailor. Just then a blinding rage stirred in Magnus and before he could think his body began to act. The battle was quick, almost effortless as the rage swelled within him. Battered and victorious, the exhausted Magnus collapsed. With waning consciousness over 2 days he heard the objections of the remaining crew as they tarried over what to do about their ships Surgeon’s Man. He was Anathema now. The decision was ultimately made for them when the vessel that would save them bared the flag of the Dynastic House Peleps. In spite of his fathers vigorous objection the crew threw Magnus overboard and hobbled to the assistance of the Realm ship.

Why he didn’t drown in the murky depths or how, remains a mystery. Magnus was awoken to the incredibly painful WACK of a fresh bamboo reed. When he looked up to see who dared to strike him, he was struck again. “If a man strikes you and you continue not to act, it is only logical he strike you again,” the assailant said. “That I guess will count as lesson number 1”. Magnus stumble to his feet and raised his hands as if to give fight but noticed the purple-haired man surrounded by an audience of children ranging in age from 8 – 13 years old. “I am Caribdus,” the man said. “I take you’ll be staying awhile as it appears that your boat is no longer seaworthy.” Magnus looked down at the yellow rowboat that appeared to have survived a hurricane. Barely. Magnus turned to Caribdus and his life began again. Night and day every skill a man would need to survive in the wilderness was Magnus' way of life. Caribdus was a strong believer in the best lessons come from the school of hard knocks. Days filled with extraordinary painful training and nights of balm-soaked philosophical whirlwinds. Somehow though Caribdus' brand of tough love, Magnus learned the value of human life and the pivotal power he had been given to affect it.

Eventually during their regular visits to the various villages, Magnus met Ahnalu daughter of a shark hunter, their love was almost instant but intermittent as Caribdus hated anything that affected Magnus' focus. After a year and a day of Caribdus' tutalage , Magnus awoke in his bed by the bright rays of the morning sun, a sharp contrast to the many mornings of waking in a den of very angry badgers or strapped to the side of a mountain. No that morning all of Caribdus' possessions were gone but breakfast was still warm and a note.

Disappointed about losing a mentor he had grown to admire but finding the love of his life, Magnus married Ahnalu. A year of intense romantic forays was bought to an abrupt stop when a messenger from Skullstone stated the Magnus had been elected to use his exaltation as a state-sorcerer, signed directly by the Silver Prince himself. Magnus was elated he packed his family up and left for Eventide prefecture the next day. The trip was mostly uneventful until perhaps the greatest sea storm in the history of Creation. The ship was battered by the waves Magnus a man now, confronted the danger with unrivaled courage, his defiance only further angering the storm mother. Ahnalu was swept away as the ship cracked in half. Magnus gave chase like mad man who'd crossed a desert and saw his tall glass of iced tea spilling. In the chaos, Ahna told Magnus that her time had come and to not let her death be in vain, Magnus refused. The end of his sentence punctuated with a cascading cloud of debris that pulled him and his wife into the darkness of the the sea. He struggled with all his might and prayed to the Sun for guidance and mercy. His prayer fell on deaf ears it appears. The debris had entangled Ahna and Magnus couldn't move fast enough to free her but wouldn't let go. He'd never let go. So Ahna did. She faded from the light of his anima into the murky blackness of eternity. Her lips left only the motions of "I love you and let my death not be in vain.". The swim to the surface was seemed to take hours, each forward thrust harder than the last. Magnus wonders to this day if in his heart he didn't want to drown. When surfaced the gray skies of the underworld.

A dull purple vessel rescued Magnus inspite of his unwillingness to live. After a long sleep he awakened to find a Skullstone privateer who told him a tale of how the Silver Prince had great stock in Magnus and his destiny as a necromantic sorcerer. And how a sacrifice must be made like that he'd just done with sorcery. Magnus looked up puzzled. The privateer, Black-bones-that-rattle-in-salty-waters, stood next to Magnus's recently deceased wife. Her visage was gaunt, twisted, and water-logged. Chains dangled from her chest and dragged where she paced. Her barely audible voice spoke Magnus' name and said "I live to serve, my love.". Magnus was horrified not at his wife's ghost, but at its sad and clearly painful existance. Magnus tried to reach out to her and show he could love through her new state. But the beautiful flower he loved in life was a pale shadow of incoherent memories and shambling wracks of agony. All Magnus wanted to do was end her misery. But Black Bones said "Wait, don't let her end be in vain".
