Solar Transcendence

There are three charms which Solars may use to transcend the limits of humanity and gain new souls. By this process they become more than creatures bound by mundane virtues and come to embody and act on concepts. In the all of First Age only a handful of Solars ever tried this approach and each ended in a mysterious cataclysm as their being became unstable and came apart.

Charms

The Golden Deputy

  • Type: Permanant
  • Keywords: Holy
  • Requirements: Immanent Solar Glory, Lore 5, Essence 4, One Virtue rated at 4 or higher.

This charm creates a Deputy for the domain which the Solar has the Immanent Solar Glory for. The Deputy gains an intimacy toward the Solar, the domain, and one other thing of the Solar's choosing. The Deputy gains a motivation to purposfully manage and maintain the domain for which the Immanent Solar Glory pertains to. The Essence pool from ISG can be refilled while the Deputy manages the domain. Finally, the Deputy may spend a willpower point to do the following:

  • Send the Solar a 25 word message about the state of his Domain
  • Double the successes on one roll which is directly related to managing his domain
  • Petition the solar for access to the Essence that ISG grants. If the Solar agrees the Deputy may access all of the Solar's charms and will pay out of the Solar's ISG pool.

Stats of the Deputy:

  • Essence: 2
  • Virtues: all at 2.
  • Willpower: 5

While the Deputy is acting toward maintaining the domain, he has all of the attributes and abilities of the Solar. Otherwise use the stats for a common mortal.

  • Hit points: 0x5 Incap
  • Soak: 25B,15L,5A
  • Hardness:5

Special notes: The steward exists as an extension of the Solar's will. If he is attacked the Solar becomes aware of the situation as if the Deputy had sent a message. If destroyed, the Solar may spend one Willpower to recreate the Deputy. The Deputy will reappear at his side with full knowledge of everything which happened until he was destroyed. He will stay with the Solar until the Solar returns him to her domain.

The Holy keyword prevents this charm from being learned by Moonshadows or Fiends. It does not make the Deputy himself Holy.

The Deputy heals as an Exalt.

Ascension of the Deputy

  • Type: Permanent
  • Requirements:The Golden Deputy, Lore 5, Essence 5, 14 dots of Virtues, an Intimacy toward a concept or Ideal, Willpower 9

As the Solar progresses spiritually beyond what a human can achieve, so does his Deputy. The steward may now have the abilities, attributes, virtues, and willpower of a starting Solar when he is not directly managing the Solar's domain. He gains Essence 3 and a pool of 30 motes. Additionally, the Solar adds 2 motes to each ISG pool he has.

He gains the following powers which require 10m, 1w to power

  • Remove all wound penalties for a scene
  • Convert all lethal damage to bashing
  • Make all attacks holy for one scene
  • Add his Essence in successes to all rolls for a day to manage or defend the domain

He gains the following health levels:

  • -1x5

Special Notes: The Deputy is still an extension of the Solar's will which has grown into legendary stature. If he is killed in battle, the Solar loses a number of motes equal to the number of motes that the Deputy had spent before he died. The Solar must spend one willpower AND one virtue channel to recreate the Deputy. When she recreates the steward, she may recreate the Steward with different Abilities, Attributes, Willpower, and Virtues as if he were a starting Solar.

Solar Mortal Transcendence

  • Type: Permanent
  • Requirements: Ascension of the Deputy, Essence 6, Cult 2, one of the following: Solar circle sorcery, Mastery of a Sidereal Martial Art, Mastery of a Virtue Style, a forged Grace

The Solar continues onward on her journey of becoming something else. She is no longer content with just one soul. The Deputy becomes a third soul for the Solar and is gloriously transformed. The Deputy is now on the power level of a low ranking celestial god. He may be recreated as if he were a Solar with 100 XP and may learn any charm the Solar already knows. He should gain one unique power related to an Intimacy the Solar possesses. He may define his motivation as long as it does not violate any of the Solar's Intimacies or her motivation. The cost of the this power, as well as the power itself is subject to storyteller approval.

The Deputy gains a name, an Essence pool of 50 motes (though still only an Essence score of 3), and 5 more -1 health levels as well as 10 -2 levels. He no longer has to maintain the Solar's domain, and he gains XP at 1/4 the rate of his Solar host. Should the Deputy die, the Solar loses all Essence, a Permanent willpower, and all her Virtues lower by one. The Solar may only recreate this Deputy by recreating its original Ascended Deputy and then repurchasing this charm. The Deputy may then be recreated as if he had 100 + 1/3 of his previous XP.

The Solar may now purchase an additional sequence of The Golden Deputy, Ascension of the Deputy, and Solar Mortal Transcendence.

Boom: The Dissolution

Solar transcendence is cursed just as the Exalted are cursed. Every subsoul of the Solar has the same limit break condition and limit break as the host Solar. Worse, all have a single limit pool. Scholars of the First Age just took this for granted that the Solar's temperament was imprinted on the subsouls. Once the subsouls began developing their own souls, things got worse. Third generation souls each have their own unique limit break condition from one another. As the number of souls grew so did the chance of the entire hierarchy entering limit break. Once this happens, the host Solar was no longer able to control access to his own essence pool and was drained dry. Having nothing left, the Solars own hu and po souls would get drug into the feuding hierarchy beneath him. Without a host Solar Essence to power them, the sub souls eventually consume their Essence and dissipate.
