Storm Gryphons share much in common with their southern cousins the Flame Gryphons, bearing subtle differences influenced by their alternative elemental attunement. Like Flame Gryphons, the sheer force of their will allows them to exist indefinitely inside of creation, but they are unable to breed there. They can exist in all parts of the wyld (except Pure Chaos) without fear of further mutation. Their body partly resembles that of a giant lion, but with a giant eagle's head and beak, and talons replacing their front paws. They have great feathery wings which can navigate the toughest of winds, but when submerged, these wings turn to dolphin-like flippers which are capable of swimming at great speeds underwater. The Storm Gryphons themselves can breathe water as easily as air and their nests are generally made of seaweed and kelp and found underwater. Like Flame Gryphons, Storm Gryphons are also capable of a harsh speech.

Where the Flame Gryphons abhor horses, the Storm Gryphons loathe dolphins and the wyld creature Sea Horses, and likewise kill them whenever possible. Storm Gryphons share their same fiercely independent nature with Flame Gryphons, as well as their vanity.

Motivation: Stay free, look glorious, kill sea horses and dolphins.

Attributes: Same as Flame Gryphon

Virtues: Same as Flame Gryphon

Abilities: Same as Flame Gryphon

Essence Powers:

Command Storms: Storm Gryphons may perform the equivalent of any Thaumaturgical ritual listed under The Art of Weather Working but only related to natural storms or storms created with thaumaturgy, not those caused by sorcery. The Gryphon must pay all equivalent resource costs for the rituals in motes of essence. The Gryphon uses its Attribute + Survival pool to perform the perform the rituals instead of Occult. Although it is similar to Thaumaturgy, it is not Thaumaturgy and the Bureau of Seasons always considers the use of this power to be a force outside of creation meddling with their domains so inappropriate uses inside of creation may lead to consequences, and the Storm Gryphons are aware of the doom that awaits them otherwise.

Immunity to Command: Same as Flame Griffon, see Compass of Celestial Directions, vol. 2: The Wyld, page 151.

Other Notes: A storm gryphon's wing buffet inflicts damage through a combination of pummeling and drowning. If a target can normally survive underwater, the wing buffet deals an equal amount of bashing damage instead.
