These are just unofficial alternate rules proposals for Lunar Limit:

Face of Luna
Lunars gain Limit from three sources: A Lunar gains one point of Limit when she spends a point of Willpower to act against her primary Virtue. She increases her Limit by one when she resists unnatural mental influence, though no more than once per scene. When she uses any shapeshifting ability (whether Knacks or Charms) in a manner counter to her primary Virtue, she rolls (her Virtue) dice and each success adds one point to her Limit; 10s count as two successes as normal.
The purpose of the Solar curse included turning the face of the Unconquered Sun from the world. If Luna might not turn her face from her children, then perhaps their faces would sometimes turn from hers. When a Lunar must roll her Virtue to accrue Limit in the presence of Luna or beneath the light of the moon, she adds a number of dice to the roll based on the following chart:
Lunar Presence | Additional Dice |
Crescent Moon | +1 |
Changing Moon | +2 |
Full Moon or Luna | +3 |
Hierarchy of Form and Function
Lunars gain Limit from three sources: A Lunar gains one point of Limit when she spends a point of Willpower to act against her primary Virtue. She increases her Limit by one when she resists unnatural mental influence, though no more than once per scene. When she is using a shapeshifting ability (spirit shape, Knacks, or Charms) and acts in a manner counter to her current shape, she rolls (her primary Virtue) dice and each success adds one point to her Limit; 10s count as two successes as normal.
For example, Swims-in-Shadows is hungry while swimming in his shark form and discovers a bloody corpse in the water. Ignoring it to follow the Realm vessel which was snooping around Luthe, he rolls for Limit.
Variant: As above, but add one extra die if the Lunar is rolling her Virtue for Limit in the light of the full moon.
Variant: As above, but use the chart from Face of Luna to determine how many dice to add.
Chimerism
Lunars gain Limit from three sources: A Lunar gains one point of Limit when she spends a point of Willpower to act against her primary Virtue. She increases her Limit by one when she resists unnatural mental influence, though no more than once per scene.
Finally, each time that the Lunar changes shape, the curse tries to work its taint. Roll a dice pool, and compare the results to the Lunar's Dodge MDV. Each success grants one point of Limit, and 10s count as two successes. This pool begins at one die, if the Lunar changes true forms. Each subsequent shapeshift adds one die to the pool. Taking any other shape increases the dice pool by two. These accumulate. For each day that passes in which the character does not shapeshift at all, reduce the accumulated pool by one die, until it reaches zero. Gaining any points of Limit from the accumulated pool also resets it to zero. For some reason Casteless Lunars do not suffer Limit from changing shape.
Variant: As above, but add one extra die if the Lunar is rolling for Limit in the light of the full moon. This accumulates as normal.

Quicksilver Companion
Lunars gain Limit from three sources: A Lunar gains one point of Limit when she spends a point of Willpower to act against her primary Virtue. She increases her Limit by one when she resists unnatural mental influence, though no more than once per scene. When she acts against her primary Virtue in the presence of any of her Intimacies, she rolls (her Virtue) dice and each success adds one point to her Limit; 10s count as two successes as normal. Her Solar mate always counts as an Intimacy for this purpose.
Variant: As above, but add one extra die if the Lunar is rolling for Limit in the light of the full moon. This accumulates as normal.
Variant: As above, but use the chart from Face of Luna to determine how many dice to add.
Variant: Luna and the moon—possibly only the full moon—also always count as Intimacies for this purpose. For many Lunars, these might already be Intimacies.
Usurpation Fall
Lunars gain Limit from three sources: A Lunar gains one point of Limit when she spends a point of Willpower to act against her primary Virtue. She increases her Limit by one when she resists unnatural mental influence, though no more than once per scene. When she acts against any of her Virtues while attempting to protect one of her Intimacies, she rolls (violated Virtue) dice and each success adds one point to her Limit; 10s count as two successes as normal. Her Solar mate always counts as an Intimacy for this purpose. Note that protection is not always a matter of physical conflict. Telling lies to keep a favored woodland from being clearcut would trigger a Temperance roll, as might lying to protect the reputation of your Solar mate.
Variant: As above, but add one extra die if the Lunar is rolling for Limit in the light of the full moon.
Variant: As above, but use the chart from Face of Luna to determine how many dice to add.
