From the Shards of the Exalted Dream book:
"A character may have only a single crafted destiny at any time."
For Essence 1 beings, I am pretty sure that this already existed in the traditional rules. So it isn't a change for them.
However, seeing it again reminded me. From the setting text, I always get this idea that your typical mortal is running around with multiple group destinies affecting him:
The destiny of humanity, the destiny of his nation, the destiny of his district, the destiny of his town, etc. It does say "crafted" destiny in the rule, so I can see how you might argue that many of the group destinies affecting a person are just tacked on by the automatic actions of the pattern spiders and don't count as "crafted" destinies. Still, it seems like your typical mortal would simultaneously be under more than one crafted destiny, administered by a Sidereal or by the Charms of a god of the Bureau of Destiny.
Presumably, many of these effects regularly end up canceling each other out when they conflict. I think there is even a 1st edition section that suggests this. But should they actually turn each other off permanently?
