Aurum Justice
The Daiklave
Aurum Justice is a standard Daiklave designed by the Dawn Caste Solar Artur in RY 3128 as a template for his mortal Artifact construction practice. Unique to his design was the ability to add in a third rare component to allow mortals to experiment with interactions among magical things. The primary components which provide Artifact magic are orichalcum and water which has been exposed to a high concentration of Wyld Energies.
He actually constructed an instance of the blade in RY 3491 after the passage of Operation Wyldhand. As a third magical component he chose to incorporate judicial rulings he had trapped in a mesh of moonsilver and starmetal. When he was finished the blade would reflect various rulings and laws in its surface when exposed to the sun at different times of the day.
The pommel of the Daiklave hold the heartstone setting. When there is no stone set, the symbol of the Unconquered Sun is clearly visible. The hilt is wrapped in imperishable leather which smells faintly of rose petals, brine, and vinegar. The guard is decorated as a balance for the scales of justice. The should of the blade bulges slightly as if it were the binding of a book. The flat of the blade is adorned with lines and margins on which the words of law appear. As tradition for Daiklaves, the blade has no back but instead is double edged. The weapon is tipped concave such that a person may be pinned to a wall between the tips yet suffer no lethal damage,
The History
Artur bore the blade for 50 years. After the death of her forewoman on the Indigo Chain, Artur maintained the peace of the archipelago. During this period, iconography of this blade became common in courts and legislatures. His circlemate Akasha asked to use the blade as part of her Minister project to provide longer lived, permanent rulership of the factory island. She believed, correctly, that having the sword there would be seen as a sign of legitimate and honest rulership from whomever she put in charge.
Until the Island was lost to the Dragon Blooded during the Usurpation, the blade was wielded by an automaton simply called the Aurulean Minister. When it became obvious the cause was lost, a fail safe in the Minister reset his crystal memory matrix to protect Solar secrets he knew. The Shogunate was unable to reactivate it and sealed it and the sword away.
The sword again saw the light of the Unconquered Sun when the Minister was successfully reactivated. The Minister bore the sword against many battles with the Fair Folk until the age of sorrows when he was deactivated by Little Beam. Since that time it has been a symbol of the government and used by the sitting Minister as a ceremony piece. Currently the Daiklave is in the personal panoply of Ky Aria.
The Mechanics
Aurum Justice is a standard orichalcum daiklave and gains the relevant magical materials bonuses. An attuned character can read the legal inscriptions on the blade and use them to train a first level Lore speciality in first age legal proceedings of the West. The blade contains a slide on the back so that specially designed sheaths may hold it without covering the blade.
